Whenever I go out of the country, it always feels like am going to commit to something beautiful that will leave me speechless. I love how traveling makes one go on adventure, learn new things, discover the skills you didn’t know you had all the time, make your dreams come true and so much more. My love affair with travel is simply what’s keeping me sane and happy and one of the many good reasons I keep on gazing towards the bright side of life. And Taiwan is undoubtedly one of those places that made me speechless.
We had three whole days to see what Taipei has in store for us. On our 3rd day, we planned on going to the northern part of Taipei but considering that it was our last day and we had a flight to catch, we just opted to explore the city and take it easy since we had been hustling since day 1.
We went to Xinyi Road (near MRT Dongmen Station) where you will find the first and original branch of Din Tai Fung. You would know, because the queue is crazy as early as 8 in the morning. We had some snacks at Toasteria Cafe which I highly recommend if you are in to some Mediterranean comfort food. The must try is their Panini since their tagline is, ‘The largest, most creative panini menu on the planet.’ Hence we tried the Philly Steak Classic Panini on toasted whole wheat. We were also told that you can stay 2 hours tops. Not sure why but maybe because they were still on soft opening that day.
And then we went to see another temple, Hsing Tian Kong. It’s a walking distance from MRT Xingtian station, which is three train stations away from MRT Dongmen.
Last tourist spot that we made sure not to miss was Ximending. We did a little shopping. Yes, just a little. This is one of the many shopping districts in Taipei. If you love Myeongdong of Seoul, then I am pretty sure you will love this place too! And we had a milk tea for the last time.
And of course we bought some pasalubong! Hsin Tung Yang have various kinds of Chinese food products that retails from 100 NT to 300 NT which I find very reasonable.
I spent roughly P9,000 for the pocket money. If you take off the shopping and pasalubong, then 5k-6k is more than enough to survive three days in Taipei. That excludes the airfare and accommodation. 🙂
